Twinstar Sound

A collaborative sound system project between Isaac “Mesa” Cole-Frieman and JayJay “Black Hibiscus” Ugbe. We design and build loudspeaker stacks and permanent listening setups for rooms where people listen for a long time.

The name comes from Sun Ra’s “Twin Stars of Thence,” and carries his genius with it. It also points to Gemini, the twin star constellation; to stereo sound, two channels working as one; and to one of our founders, who is a twin.

Since 2024: four stacks and two permanent at-home listening setups. The Prima Stack was the first.

Whole records, full sets, nights that run late. A system for long-form listening has to sound good in the third hour, when your ears are tired and the room is full.

Yes. We design and build custom loudspeaker systems for homes, studios and venues. Write to hello@twinstarsound.com to begin. Clients can read the full program on the Commissions page.

Listening sessions and expos are announced by email. Write to us and we will put you on the list.
