Twinstar was founded by Isaac Cole-Frieman and Jayjay Ugbe on the belief that Afro-futurism is a practice, one built on decolonizing the mind and treating imagination as real power. Rather than looking backward or forward alone, this practice holds that the future can be imagined and built in direct contact with the past.

Twinstar is built on a simple premise: that Black musical and spiritual traditions carry knowledge worth protecting, and that sound itself can be a way of keeping that knowledge alive.
